Beauty is inescapable.
Even in times of deep despair we see
a wall casting purple shadows,
adobe against the blue of sky.
We catch the scent
of an early blooming hibiscus,
and we are reminded
of the immense goodness of our world.
We are filled with a gratitude
that can never leave us
if we live with eyes opened.
I am surrounded by beauty.
And you are too.
